Who we are

ClickNorms is an independent publication operated by Joy Jathinson. References to "we", "us", and "our" mean ClickNorms. References to "you" mean a visitor or subscriber.

What we collect

If you subscribe to the newsletter

• Email address
• Subscription date and source page
• Open and click events for the emails we send (so we can write better ones)

If you just visit the site

• Anonymized page views, referrer, country, and device type
• No IP address logging beyond what our hosting provider retains for security
• No cross-site tracking, no fingerprinting, no advertising cookies

If you contact us

• The contents of your email and your reply address
• We retain correspondence to provide a coherent reply history; we don't enrich it with third-party data

What we don't collect

• We don't sell or rent personal data — ever
• We don't run third-party ad networks or social pixels
• We don't profile visitors for ad targeting
• We don't ask you to log in

Why we collect what we collect

Three reasons, in this order:

• To deliver the newsletter. If you subscribe, we need an email address.
• To improve the publication. Anonymized analytics tell us which articles are worth a follow-up.
• To respond. If you email us, we reply.

Cookies

We use a small number of essential and analytics cookies. None of them are advertising cookies. Specifically:

• Session cookies — to remember preferences (e.g. dismissed banners) within a single visit
• Privacy-friendly analytics — aggregate, anonymized page-view counts

You can block cookies in your browser settings without breaking the site.

Third parties we use

We try to keep this list short:

• Email service provider — to send the newsletter and store your subscriber profile (your email + engagement data)
• Hosting provider — to serve the site (basic server logs, retained for security)
• Privacy-friendly analytics — to count anonymized visits

Each of these has its own privacy policy and is contractually bound to handle your data on our behalf only. We do not share your data with anyone else.

AI crawlers and content reuse

Our site is open to AI search crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended, PerplexityBot, CCBot, and others). This relates to our published articles — not to your personal data. Subscriber data is never made available to crawlers, AI assistants, or any third party for training.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you have the right to:

• Access — ask what data we hold about you
• Correct — fix anything inaccurate
• Delete — have your data removed (the "right to be forgotten")
• Export — receive a copy of your data in a portable format
• Unsubscribe — every newsletter has a one-click unsubscribe link
• Object — to any processing you don't want

Data retention

• Newsletter subscribers — until you unsubscribe; then deleted within 30 days
• Analytics — aggregated; individual events retained no more than 12 months
• Email correspondence — up to 3 years, then archived

International transfers

Some service providers may process data outside your country. Where this happens, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent legal mechanisms to protect your rights.

Children

ClickNorms is written for marketing professionals. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has subscribed, email [email protected] and we will delete the record.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of the page and notify subscribers by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
